So I know this blog means I am totally going to jinx every word I type, but I’m slightly blown away and needed to share.
For the past four days, I’ve had bloodsugar nirvana. Seriously.

I thought I might be cured till I remembered I’d been giving insulin the whole time (bummer). I haven’t been doing anything differently for the most part, at least not anything I would think could make a difference.
Last week, I started a diet (whole. other. post.), but I’m only counting calories. I’m not necessarily eating “healthy” foods, just eating within the confines of a certain caloric intake. I plan to exercise more, but I haven’t really started yet. I walked my dogs, and I went hiking Saturday, but I walk my dogs everyday, and I hike almost every Saturday. So, that can’t be it. I haven’t changed my basal rates, and I haven’t changed my insulin-to-carb ratio. So… I’m going with bloodsugar nirvana.
While your diabetes may vary, my personal goal is to stay below 180 mg/dL, but I’m happy as long as I don’t cross 200. And for the past five days, I’ve done just that. (Cause I’m counting a 204 mg/dL reading as close enough). Therefore, I have no idea what’s going on, but I do know I like it. And if this keeps up, my A1c in four months is going to be worth throwing a party for… with plenty of Diet Cokes and grilled cheeses. (long story).
But for now, I’m thankful for the good ride and hope it continues. I am nervous though, knowing the first rule of Fight Club…
Don’t you just wish every day was this way?! I know I do! I’ve been experiencing the same nirvana since last week so I can relate to your need to share. Although I have been stepping up the exercise. Whatever the reason, I hope it continues 🙂
oh nirvana, how nice you are. there are times when, like you, i almost think i’m cured. but then i too remember that just ’cause i am not sticking myself 4-6x a day (i <3 my pump), doesn't make it so.
whatever you're doing (or not doing!), keep it up!!
I can tell you that it wouldn’t take too terribly many grilled cheese sandwiches and Diet Coke (note the capitalization…) to get me to that party. 🙂
