This is very powerful. It is so hard not to wonder when you hear of someone else being diagnosed with diabetes. Or someone’s 10 month old being diagnosed with cancer. Or someone’s 5 year old in PICU because of a failing heart. Or someone’s grandmother not knowing what day it is or where she is. It just doesn’t seem fair. But when you look at it from the perspective you wrote, it is more acceptable. It is bearable. And I only wish that everyone going through any kind of illness could have the viewpoint you do.

Love this post! I’ve been mulling over the word *perspective* today and it seems to me that you have found a great one!

You’re post really hit home for me, but in a really good way. I was checking my BG today & someone just randomly said to me, “I’m sorry you have to deal with this burden every single day.” It was a very sweet thought voiced by a caring person. The following words left my mouth before I’d even recognized that I thought them. “I’m not going to pretend that it doesn’t suck, because some days it does. And sometimes it sucks in a HUGE way. But if it weren’t for diabetes there are a lot of people in my life that I would never have met. I’d be missing out on a lot of love, laughter, & support that just can’t help but spill over into every single inch of my life. No way would I trade that for a working pancreas. Not even on my worst day with diabetes.”

You should know that I count you among those people in my life. You just never fail to leave me in awe of the person you are & the walk that you have with God.

Love this, Victoria. I absolutely love that song and it’s message, and totally am on the same page (Bible page, probably) as you are with this. We are blessed, and I wouldn’t change that for anything.
