#shereadstruth

We all know how much I love hashtags. Remember this? And this? And of course, the hashtag of all hashtags in #dsma. Well friends, I have a new favorite hashtag, and I think you might like it, too. #shereadstruth

She Reads Truth is a new site where women join together to read the Bible each day. We read and study God’s word through a daily devotion and then journal our thoughts about the text and how God is moving in our lives. The hashtag comes in when women tweet and use Instagr.am to upload photos of them in the Word. It just so happens God and social media are two of my favorite things, so clearly, I Love. This. Idea.

It brings studying God’s word into a community atmosphere where we have one another to lean on. It’s a great website and initiative, and I’m excited to join in. Getting started is easy. Download the YouVersion Bible app on your smartphone (it’s free)! If you don’t have a smartphone, you can visit the YouVersion website here. Subscribe to the “Living the Surrendered Life” plan and you’re good-to-go.

God desires a close and personal relationship with us and like any other relationship, closeness comes when you spend time together. The more time I spend in the Word, the closer I feel to the Father and the easier His voice is to hear and discern. I participate in a Bible study at my church on Monday nights with other young adults. Spending time with other believers gives me a great strength in my faith. It reminds me I’m not alone, and it provides deep friendships with people I know will hold me accountable. That’s the concept behind #shereadstruth.

In addition to reading the Bible, I spend time in prayer which is something I’ve struggled with lately. As I grow in my relationship with Him, so does my prayer life. That’s why I journal. Journaling my devotions and prayers helps me to focus on what I’m learning each day, and it provides a way for me to go back and see how God has moved in and around me. I love that #shereadstruth incorporates journaling and community. The devotions are relatively short and provide insight to the daily reading. Plus, there are so many others reading alongside you. And what a beautiful thing that is — women reading scripture together.

I learned of #shereadstruth through a blog post on (in)courage. Check either site out through the buttons below.
