Hearing Dustin Hoffman admit he’s missed out on meeting interesting women because they didn’t meet a particular physical description left an impression. This quote, in particular:
“If I met myself at a party, I would never talk to that character because she doesn’t fulfill, physically, the demands that we’re brought up to think women have to have in order for us to ask them out… There are too many interesting women I have not had the experience to know in this life because I have been brainwashed.”
I’m attractive, but I’m not a knockout. I don’t turn heads walking down the street, and I don’t get stares or second glances. But I am what he’d call an interesting woman, and I think the wisdom he’s sharing extends to both sexes. Everyone is beautiful, and everyone has a story. I hope this video encourages you to say hello to the person next to you. Start a conversation. Offer a kind word and a smile. It’s how friendships are made and you never know what interesting person you may meet.
