I’m sort of obsessed with pockets. It’s apparent if you’ve ever been shopping with me for… well anything, really. A few years ago, I wrote an entire JDRF speech about finding the perfect dress because it had pockets. I’m in a wedding in a couple of weeks, and I had the seamstress sew a pocket into the inside lining of the dress. I don’t even look at buying a cycling jersey if it doesn’t have three pockets on the back.
If you wear an insulin pump, you understand the obsession with pockets. They are instrumental and necessary if you’re tethered to a bionic pancreas. I thought after 20+ years of type 1 diabetes, I was a pocket expert. But after learning to run and swim long distances this year, I’ve hit a new learning curve. I’m not the only one who struggles with this, which I know because I’ve reached out for advice from some of you. I wanted to share what I’ve found beneficial for endurance sports when you need to tote around bionic parts and extra snacks. I hope it helps eliminate some of the stress associated with exercise and diabetes.
Lululemon tights
Lululemon bra
swimsuit back
ride skirt with pocket
spibelt
I spent an absurd amount of money on running tights a few months back because there was a pocket on the side of the thigh.
