A War Eagle guest blog

Today, I’m pleased to be guest-blogging over on one of my favorite Auburn sites, The War Eagle Reader. The site is a wonderful compilation of any and all things Auburn, which works out pretty well for me since I happen to love any and all things Auburn.

The site’s creator (@wareaglereader) and I were first introduced on Twitter when he wrote a story about the plane I was on bound for the BCS National Championship in Arizona. About 95 percent of the plane’s passengers were Auburn fans (best. flight. ever.), but we ended up getting stuck on the runway in Atlanta for about three hours. Considering we were headed to the biggest game in our team’s existence, we were jubilant and excited and could’ve cared less about being hot, confined and grounded. For those three hours, a former Auburn cheerleader led the plane in all the favorites, “Bodda Getta,” “Track ’em Tigers” and “Are you Ready?”

Needless to say, I’d like to consider @wareaglereader a friend now. Recently, we discussed the possibility of writing about Kendall Simmons — a former Auburn football player, Pittsburgh Steeler, superbowl winner and type 1 diabetic — and his diabetes advocacy. It’s the best of both sites! I was thrilled to share Simmons’ diabetes journey with the rest of my Auburn Family.

So today, that’s where I am, advocating to another special family I have — the Auburn Family. Feel free to swing by HERE and read about Auburn, Kendall and diabetes. And don’t forget to follow The War Eagle Reader on Twitter!

SIDEBAR: Special shoutout to @ninjabetic for sharing his photos!
