You are loved.

Did you know the most important commandment is about love? God wants us to love Him above all else and then, He wants us to love others as we love ourselves.

If you know me, you know I’m a hopeless romantic. From my taste in movies to my love affair with France, I’m a lost cause. But when you think about it, God is a romantic, too. He loves us so greatly and so passionately, He’ll go to incredible lengths to show us that love. And when that love is unrequited, it breaks His heart. He is constantly working and moving in our lives to pull us to Him, and He will never give up.

You can shut the door in his face. You can walk away. And you can ignore His calls all you want. But He’s not going anywhere. He’s going to keep knocking, keep walking into your life and keep calling you. It’s difficult for me to explain how big His love is for us but the past few months, I saw that love firsthand. He loves me so much that He took the saddest, most heart-breaking moments of my life and used them for His glory — He used them to pull someone to Him and they came. They came battered and bruised and with scars, but He will heal every bit of the pain in that person. I know it because he healed mine and then used that healing as a witness to someone else.

That’s how much He loves us — that he can take something ugly, something dirty and dusty and use it to draw someone to Him. He hated seeing me go through my pain, but He allowed it to happen knowing He would get the glory from it down the road. He wanted that person so badly, He allowed hurt knowing that through that pain, she would see His love and hear His call. Wrap your head around that for a second. His will is not to hurt us, but Him allowing my heartache saved another soul. That kind of love is nearly indescribable.

I woke up this morning with a smile on my face and a flutter in my heart because I have His love and He has mine. And it truly is the greatest love of all. What a glorious way to spend Valentine’s Day.

God recently reminded me that things happen in His time and His will, not mine. And for that, I am deeply thankful even if I don’t always understand. His will is far superior to mine and it’s always better. Always. I hope you will spend time with the ones you love today and remind them with cheesy rhymes and paper hearts how much you love them.

But I also hope you’ll take a minute and thank Him for the all-consuming, all-encompassing love He gives you every day. Soak it in and let it completely cover you. Nothing feels better, nothing.

Enjoy today and share love. But above all, love Him and love others.

  1. Victoria: I love your posts. Thank you so much for these. It’s a weird thing for me, knowing that what you say is true in that
He doesn’t turn away from us no matter how much or often we do from Him. I’ve found that as a positive faith-enhancer, but also a temptation in that I somehow kind of know that He is not going anywhere and I can “just give in to temptation one more time.” A dangerous balance, and one I struggle with. His timing and power to help me, if I ask ahead of time, is something that helps me get through more times than not.
