18. Again.

So last year, I wrote this post about my diabetes turning 18 years old thinking ‘wow, has it really been that long?’ Turns out, no. It hasn’t been that long. Or at least it wasn’t last year.

In 2011, I moved into a new apartment meaning lots of packing, lots of boxes, lots of unpacking, lots of cleaning out, lots of rummaging through stuff and lots of sorting. In the midst of all that exciting and irresistible fun (Wait, what? Moving is fun for you?) I found the following book which was given to me two days after my diagnosis. It was the first book I ever read regarding diabetes.

If you look closely at the sticker on the front, you’ll see it says 1/20/94. That would be 18 years ago… today. Not 18 years ago… last year. So apparently, I’ve lost a year of my diabetes life? While I try to make sense of that last sentence, I’m just going to say — Happy 18th Dia-versary to me.

Again.

I guess studying journalism was the best idea after all. Clearly, numbers are not my thing.

On another note, who’s buying the cupcakes?

  1. I bought the cupcakes last year and would again today except for the fact you will be in Nashville most of the day. Ask Christie to and I will reimburse her 🙂 Happy Diaversary Again! Hugs to you and so glad we are close friends!
