Nominations are… OPEN!

I am so stinking excited about today’s post because I am thrilled to be hosting Best of the ‘Betes Blogs in April. While normally announced on the first of the month, the March winners and nominees will be featured here on April 2.*

*A. Beause the first falls on a Sunday, and B. Because April 1 is April Fools Day and I want you to believe what I’m telling you… I have been known to fool people in the past. Ahem, cough cough, Mom.)

There are so many of us who blog about our life with diabetes, each person bringing a unique perspective and valued opinion. The Best of the ‘Betes Blog is a way to highlight some of those posts since it’s tough to read them all. What were some of the best blogs you read in March? Blogs that no one else should miss? Blogs that had you rolling in the floor with laughter or thinking ‘huh, I didn’t know that.’ Let us know so we can share with the rest of the Diabetes Online Community! To nominate your favorite March posts, email the blog, the post title and the link to bestbetesblogs@gmail.com or send a DM to @bestbetesblogs with your nomination!

A nomination would look something like this

Sara (include link to blog if you have one) nominates Sprinkles for the Best Story of a D-Mistake (link to the specific post you are nominating on Sprinkles’ blog).

Here are the categories:

Best Use of Humor
Best Vlog
Best Recipe
Best Use of Photography
Best Advocacy
Best Reference to a D-Celebrity
Best Story of a D Meet-up
Best non-D Related Post
Best Post by a Type 1
Best Post by a Type 2
Best Post by a Type Awesome
Best Post by a LADA/ Type 1.5/ Not otherwise specified
Best story of a D-mistake
Best Motivational Post

Best Diabetes Art

Remember, as you read blogs during the month, take note of any that you think are a perfect example of one of the categories listed above (please no self-nominations). On the first of each month, visit BestBetesBlogs.com or the hosting blog to see the winners.

EDITOR NOTES 1 & 2: 1, if you are looking for D-blogs to read, you’ll find a decent (but probably not comprehensive) list above by clicking “Blogs worth noting.” And 2, I get to select the winners so be sure to send me lots to read and feel free to play up to my sense of humor and sarcasticness. (I just made that word up, but it’s fantastical, don’t you think?) 😉

Big thanks to Sara and George for this wonderful idea and way to highlight blogs I usually miss otherwise! Keep up the good work friends!

  1. Sounds like an awesome way to show support for your D-community! I may have to look around and see if I can find something similar for bloggers living with chronic pain and/or depression. Some days an empathetic ear would be an awesome gift!
