90 days

The JDRF Nashville Ride is three months away. Three. Months. Away.

In just 90 days, I’ll be riding in the inaugural Nashville Ride along the Natchez Trace. I’ve been working hard and riding about three days a week, but haven’t done more than a consecutive 40 miles yet. I know I have plenty of time, but I still hit a slight panic when I think about that 90-day mark. It seems so… soon.

Two weeks ago, I went out with my neighbor David and my friend (and bike guru) Matt. We managed an easy 30 miles along backroads before the temperatures heated up. Sunday afternoon, I completed another 30 with my friend Eric. We rode the Huntsville marathon route, including part of the newest addition to the Aldridge Creek greenway. As we pedaled through downtown, we ran into our friend Ken who just happened to be waiting on another mutual friend. We stopped for a glass of water and enjoyed a few minutes of catching up.

Yay for friends!
Yay for friends!

It’s reasons like this I enjoy cycling so much, especially around here. You never know who you’re going to run into, and there’s almost always someone to ride with if you ask. Weather permitting, I’m hoping to reach 50 miles this weekend on my bike. It’ll be my first 50 of the year, but with only three months left, I need to step up my game both in training and in fundraising.

I’m doing my part (as evidenced by my lovely bike tan below) to get ready, will you help me with the other? Every $5, $10 and $20 helps, I promise. Click here to link directly to my JDRF page.

As a reminder, it’s a tax-deductible donation and JDRF is consistently ranked among the nation’s top charities with 80 percent of all money raised going directly to research and research-related education. And of course, thank you for following along.
