If you read no other blog I write, no other article, please read this one. It is full of my heart and soul and filled to the brim with passion I have everyday for a cause I believe in — diabetes.
I don’t write here for mundane reasons. I write because this site is my salvation. It is my passion and my cause. It is my lifeline and my support system. I thrive off of being part of a community where others care about diabetes as much as I do. I’ve been part of the Diabetes Online Community for a little more than a year. In that time, I’ve discovered some of the world’s most amazing people. But it’s time to do more. It’s time to branch out beyond the safety net of the Internet. It’s time to show this world exactly what we are made of.
Here are a few things I want to see changed:
I want to see a central U.S. location for unused, unexpired supplies. I want people at that location to be able to ship those supplies to families in need. It can be established as a non-profit organization with a medical proffesional on the volunteer board. Money raised can go toward costs of maintaining supplies and mailing to others in need.
Once this organization is sustainable, take it to the next level by creating similar models in other parts of the world.
